Walking an early morning pavement,

the light path reaching out ahead.

Squeezed in between dark suburban gardens on one side,

and dark cars – jam-packed, bumper to bumper – on the other.

And looking up, to see warning of an intersection;

and the incandescent, surrogate sun itself;

and nothing else beyond but city lights,

twinkling far away in the dark.

About Adrian Lewis
Photographer working in monochrome, colour and combinations of the two - with a great liking for many types of subject, including Minimalism, landscapes, abstracts, soft colour, people, movement, nature - I like to be adventurous in my photography, trying new ideas and working in many genres. And I'm fond of Full English Breakfasts and Duvel golden ale, though not necessarily together.

    I like the text, Adrian, it’s a great complement to the image. Always nice to see someone experimenting.

    Please be sure that you stay at least a meter/metre and a half away from any other prowling dawn-treaders!

      Oh yes, I’m keeping that very much in mind, but in the early morning there are very few pedestrians about, and its clear that the great majority of those that are around have social distancing very much in mind.

      And anyway, for quite some time now and well prior to the advent of the virus too, I’ve noticed that many people I encounter tend to cross themselves and look away … 😉 … which does give me a warm glow …

  4. This darkness needs a Duvel! Cheers for the weekend! 🙂

      Haha! there were some waiting for me at home >>> BUT BUT BUT an Earth-shattering moment at the supermarket >>> getting my usual 6 Duvels, was only allowed to buy 3 of them due to panic buying – got to thinking I might be in a parallel universe, but had the presence of mind to sprint (ok, waddle …) back to the beer aisle and grab two bottles of Leffe which – and note my gourmet grading here – which are far better than nothing! 🙂 🙂 🙂

      A very good weekend to you too, Harrie! 🙂 🙂 🙂
