.The waterfront at Lamu, an island off the Kenyan coast; Jul 1978.
The white battlements of the town’s small fort can be seen just left of the sail, and coconut palms line the horizon.

Well, when I was there, no motor vehicles were allowed on the island; it was like stepping back in time. Whether that still applies I don’t know. And I would think tourism has increased although, that said, these eastern areas of Kenya are experiencing terrorist attacks from Somalia.

Yes, the world is changing, as always. I think there have been problems actually in the Lamu area, but there are risks anywhere in Kenya’s eastern borders.
