BIRDS 118 – STARLING 2 (MONO)
November 8, 2019 7 Comments
I like the contrast here between the gaunt, inorganic, linear, metal structures of the pylon and the small, rounded and very much alive birds – that’s “the big picture” here.
But do enlarge the image by clicking onto it twice in the usual way, to better see the massed ranks of these little birds clustered on the right side of the pylon – with all of their little beaks poking out.
There is another Starling image from this pylon here .
Other recent bird pictures are here: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 .
Technique: Z 6 with 70-300 Nikkor lens at 280mm; 1600 ISO; Lightroom, starting at the Camera Neutral v2 profile; Silver Efex Pro 2, starting at the Full Dynamic Harsh preset; Court Farm, southeast of East Huntspill, on the Somerset Levels; 25 Oct 2019.

Joe says the starlings are “clotted.” 😉

They may well be! 🙂

Their little pointing beaks were what caught my eye as soon as I enlarged the photo. A few on the left aren’t as interested, but have been intrigued by something to the left. Hmmmmm? 🤔

Well they’re always on the lookout for danger for one thing – that’s the thing about flocks, they have many eyes – and may be they’d spotted a big bird approaching. ATP xxxXXX!!!

Me too! We have a small pond outside just beyond our back yard . There are giant white egrets that fly back and forth daily. A sight to behold.

They’re great, aren’t they? I love the way they work together. I’ve seen them flock together en-masse on the structure of Aberystwyth pier during the early evening; quite a sight!

Yes, they’re wonderful, aren’t they. I suppose I have affection for all birds, but some local “English” ones get to me particularly, and Starlings are one. 🙂
