Looking eastwards along Totney Drove, a single track, tarmac road on Tadham Moor. Tall Willows are silhouetted by the sunrise, and water-filled rhynes (ditches) flank the road on either side. The distance is shrouded in fog, but the ghosts of cattle can just be made out in the background on the left.

Thank you, Sherry. I see you used to be in Earth Sciences – I started my working life as a geologist. Adrian 🙂

So did I – that seems a lifetime ago now! But, to me, being educated in geology has brought a whole now outlook, both on landscapes, and on Life in general. Even the simple fact of being quite at home with time periods of many millions of years beings a new perspective. A 🙂

Ah, the ghosts of cattle. Therein lie a few seeds of tangential imagery. This really draws me in, and it’s been too long, I admit. Nice to be back again!

Gary, my friend, very good to hear from you again! Hope all is well. Are you back in the southern hemisphere? I seem to recall that your American internet connect was terrible. Adrian 🙂

Yup, back down under, likely for even longer this time, probably until early June. Yes, all is well–and so busy!

I just had to look at this one for a long time. This early-morning shoot was so rewarding. Your narrative helped me understand the scene, but I think it would have appealed even if I could only see it as an abstract. The shapes and tones are wonderful, as is the composition.

This is quite beautiful, just a classic! That light, the haze, the filigree of branches. And it’s interesting that you used a Velvia film effect and THEN took it into Silver efex. Obviously, the possibilities are endless. Whatever the case, however you chose it, you chose well.

Lynn, my friend, thank you very much – praise indeed! But yes, Velvia AND THEN Silver Efex – rarely if ever do I produce a colour image in LR and then whack it straight unto SEP2, because its useful to think about the nature of the colour being used, ie whether it will be optimum for producing a mono image. Most of the time I use higher contrast, more saturated colour in these cases, but, equally, the opposite may be true. A 🙂

He actually drove the truck last night. First time since November 2017! I was driving. Rain. Dark. Couldn’t see so he had to take over. He’s a trooper and did great! I, on the other hand, can’t see worth a darn in the dark. 🤷🏼♀️ Take the good with the bad. 😂
