PEOPLE 269 – GRANDDAUGHTER 4

.

The younger granddaughter, looking down at a book.  I’d originally planned to have all of these portraits in black and white but – what the heck! – the colour original is here too!

Which do you prefer?

Earlier images in this series, with context, are here: 1; 2; 3.

Technique: D700 with 105mm Nikkor lens; 4,000 ISO; window light; Lightroom; the mono version produced in Silver Efex Pro 2, starting at the Warm Tone Paper preset.

  1. Color for me; happy kids should be in color… Purity as it is…

What a beautiful portraits of your grand daughter! The black and white goes into the pores of the skin, I find it for portraits the most beautiful expression…

It’s such a warm black and white, and it conveys the mood more than the color. So far we all agree! 🙂

Yes, it is warm, its SEP’s Warm Tone Paper preset, which I’ve used for various portraits over the years – yep, looks like mono has it! Thank you, my friend. A 🙂

  5. As pretty as she is in color, I prefer the black and white. A little more drama. And I like drama. LOL ❤ATP❤

Oh you Drama Queen, you!!! 😀 I know, its all to do with the freaking out first …. 🙂 … Two points emerge on this quiet and eminently civilised, eminently English Sunday afternoon. First, you sound in good spirits, Bud, which strikes me as simply tickety-boo. And second, I think you’re right about the B+W. ATP xxx

      • I am feeling pretty good, yes. Thank goodness. Scared myself there for a minute. 😉 And being right about B&W? Well if you must know, I love it when I’m right! ❤ ATP ❤

You are not the only one you scared there for a minute … on either side of The Pond … Are you all set up now to have regular checks and monitoring, not just of the implants but generally? I do hope so.

And as for you being right, well I love it when you love it, and then some! Take very, very good care of yourself, my dear friend. And that comes from someone who has just got back from a lunch that seemed to consist of several farmers’ herds and – yet again!!! – on asking a waitress if she could carry me to my car, I was told it might be easier to roll me – think I might be getting a thing about this …. 😉 ….. might have to eschew waitresses and collect the ******* food from the kitchen myself ….

Mono, for me lifts these kind of shots from the family album to a ‘work of art’. Just my opinion though.

Yes, I know what you mean, black and white does have that extra something, and especially so for portraits – perhaps I should stick with my mono-only aim. Well, ok, its only your opinion – but its opinions I’m looking for – thank you! 🙂
