PEOPLE 228 – SELFIE IN A CITY SCENE

OK, some interpretation, working from left to right – and its best if you click onto the photo, when you’re in my blog, to see a larger version of the image in a separate window.

First, me, nattily attired in an old cap, with old, stained, black jogging bottoms, and an even older green fleece – a fetching ensemble (although just what it might fetch must remain open to conjecture) >>> but, as an ensemble, I think it works!

However, next right, the woman holding up her hands clearly doesn’t share that view – something like, in a high voice, “Just who is that GHASTLY person?!”.

Then the man in the blue shirt prefers just to look away.

And, on the far right, the whole thing is rounded off by scaffolding poles, distorted by the reflection and wrapped in yellow to prevent the unwary walking smack into them.

Welcome to my world?  Well, there are times when it can feel like that.

  1. Interpretation?
First I see a crowd of people descending steps from the apartment behind, obligatory yellow handrails placed there by the Elf Brigade for crowd control onto a busy city Street.
Then on closer inspection, I see the photographer… Who, by the way, can dress in whatever style he chooses, after such success in becoming just a fraction of the department store size of his former self.
Allowing for window warp, the crowd rapidly disperses until just two people remain and as my brain starts to tell my eyes what to see, I realise the people are behind you and not in front of you. Unaware prey for the camera as they wait for the lights to change and unsuspectingly cross the road to be caught on camera, too late for the lady to escape the lens she throws her arms up in the air in frustration but the man, a little more tech-savy, clutching his own mobile world in his hand, knows big brother is watching everywhere and so just chooses to turn his better side to the camera.
Oh and the yellow scaffolding poles ? … my eyes over rule my brain on that count… And I just enjoy the colour. 😊

    • Hallysann, I ENJOY your analyses of things, they are always enlightening and usually different – different in a good way NB 🙂 . And thank you for the dispensation to dress as I please – I am a bit of a laid back scruff I have to admit, and the more so as retirement takes me more and more under its absolutely wonderful wing – but I am in any case certainly not going to dress neatly for urban snapping, or any outdoor snapping really, as I never know what strange positions and/or crevices I may have to squeeze into or around. Toodlepip, Old Bun! 😀 A
