STILL LIFE 48 – BASKET ON BALCONY (MONO + COLOUR)

Ornamental basket – actually probably a glorified plant pot – on a high balcony at Bristol’s fashionable (and very expensive) Harbourside; 14 July 2016.

The balcony is wedge-shaped, closing down into a point just to the right of the picture.

And it has glass sides, presumably to prevent unwary souls from falling through and injuring passers-by below.

X-T1 with 55-200 Fujinon at 305mm (equiv); 200 ISO; Silver Efex Pro 2, including selective restoration of colour.

Another orientation for this image might be as follows.  This is even more abstract, and the metal edges to the balcony’s glass panels, which are now cutting down at high angles through the picture,  have become stronger elements in the composition.

Like the colour palette and simple, easy , unexpected framing.

A great image Adrian. Although I like the abstract qualities of the second I think I prefer the first version.
