I thought about restoring the colour to the little plant – is it a lichen??? – but ended up deciding that it would be a distraction.

So dynamic – it’s the diagonal, and the strong shapes, and contrast, and yes, no need to give color to the lichen because it would distract.

Lynn, its good to hear what you like about this, its good to hear the details – I’m glad I resisted the temptation to re-introduce colour! Its said that one of an artist’s hardest jobs is to know when a painting is finished, and the advent of digital manipulation has brought photographers significantly nearer to that conundrum. A

Hi M! >>> yes I’m alright, thanks – still losing weight but now getting to the time where my Spartan (except for Duvel!) diet is starting to become hard work, but I’m hanging on in there – and hanging out less there too! A lunchtime walk in town was especially trying – all the gorgeous smells from the cafes etc – aaarrrggghhhhh!

Super shot, truly appeals to me, the symbolism is so poignant. Imo you made the right move by not picking out the colours of that bit of plant. Well seen..so simple, so good.

Paula, thank you very much indeed, I’m so glad this gets to you so much. But, re all the problems you’re having with sending comments to me, I’m sure that this one came through fine the first time. So I won’t show any more of you questions etc re this, if that’s ok, as things seem cleared up now. I often trawl both the Reader and Freshly Pressed, making comments, often to bloggers I’ve never contacted before, and as far as I know my comments get through – in fact I’m certain some do, as I receive replies.
