Woman climbing stairs
Woman climbing stairs, going up towards the light; Penzance, Cornwall; 8 Oct 2013.

A very slow shutter speed, 1/5th second, gives the impression of the woman’s swirling and diffuse form climbing up through the brightly lit tops of the flight of steps.

D800 with 70-300 Nikkor at 300mm; 400 ISO; Color Efex Pro 4.

About Adrian Lewis
Photographer working in monochrome, colour and combinations of the two - with a great liking for all sorts of images, including Minimalism, landscapes, abstracts, soft colour, people, movement, nature - I like to be adventurous in my photography, trying new ideas and working in many genres. And I'm fond of Full English Breakfasts and Duvel golden ale, though not necessarily together.

Blur, motion, double exposure are my current favourite! and this one is a great example!

Hmmn, I’m undecided if she’s being beamed up by “Scottie” or teleporting like one of the Tomorrow People.
    Nice effect. 🙂

I love this photo, Adrian…just the right shutter speed and position in the frame.

That’s great, Adrian; love the processing and the feeling of movement. I also like her patterned skirt 🙂

Hello Adrian, nice picture. Last week I shot a similar photo:
I’m following you for quite a while now. Love your abstract work

Jos, thank you very much, glad you like my images! Your picture is very like mine – my technique here was not intentional, I just went with what my camera (also a Nikon!) suggested, but its an interesting end result. I ought to try this more often but – as with many other techniques – I often forget to do it when I’m actually out there taking pictures! Thank you for getting in touch. Adrian
