Forestry plantation east of North Hill; 6 Apr 2015.
A shaft of early morning light from Our Star pierces the great pines’ towering darknesses.
And in my mind, these trees have closed around this little glade, maybe in awe of its light. And maybe conscious too that any closer approach will extinguish that which so fascinates them, that which they hold to be, during the fleeting moments of star-rise, so precious.

To say I’m impressed by your poem is vast understatement, my friend – its magical both in what it talks about and in the words you’ve used – and its a perfect accompaniment to my photo – great stuff! 🙂

Thank you. 🙂
It’s been a long time since I’ve written a poem, maybe I’ll read through some old ones again and see if they spark the imagination. 🙂

Great image – what wonderful timing to be able to capture a perfect shaft of light – I can almost see the fairies gathering there!!

One thing about roaming with the 70-300 is that it allows very quick responses to even moderately distant things that come into view – framing, focusing, spot metering, etc – and so its very good at “grabbing passing moments” like this one – I wouldn’t be without it.
I wish there had been fairies there, I would have liked nothing better than that – I suppose I’m rather a “dual character” – on the one hand, an ex-scientist and analyst, logical, rational …. but then there are the realms of my imagination and oh wowwww …………. I wish for example that all of the Glastonbury legends were true – I know that they’re not, but I nevertheless, very much, wish that they were. Thanks for your good thoughts, Lisa. Adrian 🙂

Paula, thank you very much indeed! Writing this post early this morning, the words of Dylan Thomas came into my mind, as they often do – ” dewfall, starfall, the sleep of birds in Milk Wood” – do you know Under Milk Wood? Recommended! I did enjoy your recent post about love – wonderful stuff! A 🙂
