Quite early on a morning in spring, and Jack’s Drove, the road north across the Tadham and Tealham Moors, is blocked; 10 Apr 2014.
The jet black area that cuts horizontally through my silhouette is the water-filled ditch that separates the rough pasture of the field at the top of the frame from the road on which I’m standing. These wet ditches do duty as fences hereabouts.
D700 with 16-35 Nikkor at 16mm; 400 ISO; Silver Efex Pro2, starting at the Dramatic preset, and restoring the sign’s colour.

And do I get the feeling that your use of “foolish” here is in its most devastating and extreme connotation? … brings götterdämmerung to mind … which Wikipedia defines as referring to “a disastrous conclusion of events” … also Apocalypse Now’s “Terminate … with extreme prejudice” … 😉

At first sight Adrian, the water filled ditch seems to provide you with a pair of arms, held out to echo the message of the road sign. Then I realise that the real arms are part way up the bank on the other side. Never mind. I can switch back to my first impressions which I prefer. Great ‘selfie’ and ‘colour pop’. Dave.

Now you mention it, Dave, the ditch and my shadow do rather resemble that famous statue Up North, so perhaps rather than an Angel Of The North, I could be a FATman Of The South???
