I love the graphic. I lived in a flat on the edge of Blackheath back in 1968 while still a student at Guy’s Hospital and the only way to the upstairs was via a spiral staircase in the corner of the living room. I still recall that – it looked just like this. Somewhere I have a B&W photo of it.

I was a student in 68 too – first year of one of my life’s loves, geology – and even though I had no such staircase, your words bring back my student days powerfully. Glad the shot brings back such times to you too. A

Thanks, M! Oh dear, and so there is an “r” in the month – but I’m looking forward to autumn – the colours, the cooler days, the mists – do you feel that way too? A ๐

Yes, I do. I love Autumn for the colours, the gentler light, the harvest, the morning mists, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, the soft touch of warm clothes next to the skin, walking through leaves ……. . I also love Spring and quite enjoy Winter – although the lack of light in January makes me feel a little low, which is probably natural as many years ago people working on the land would have used that time as downtime, I expect.

Yes, and of course SAD is now known about – I wonder if we’re in for a better winter than the last one? That got me down, and was compounded by problems getting to grips with retirement I think – to the extent that although I know full well that the days lengthen after the shortest day, it actually came as some surprise when the lighter evenings actually started to appear!
Love the words you use to describe autumn – very poetically put! ๐

Thanks, glad you like it, Gem. Haha, but if I had painted it, it would have been an absolute, total mess!!! Hope you’re hanging on in there. A xxx

Nice, but my brain and eyes argue about where I’m standing.
I seem to be in front of the stairs about to step on at the bottom, but as I look up, they’re above me and I’m looking at the underneath from behind. ๐

OH I LOVE THIS! >>> the world – which has just taken another surreal lurch – is a better place because you are in it, Hallysann ๐ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But are you really standing looking at your computer – why don’t you sit down like the rest of us? ๐

At my computer? No, I’m in standing in the picture, or rather just in front of it. I thought everyone saw pictures from where they were taken, or is this another of those happenings from my world. ๐
