SOMERSET LEVELS 103 – DEATH OF A TREE

Dead Willow, split in two, opposite the Magic Carpark, on Tadham Moor; 17 Aug 2012.

Three Willows have stood beside the rhyne opposite the Magic Carpark for many years but, now, they are in old age decline.  I shall miss them, this little corner of Somerset will be the poorer in my eyes for their passing, but that’s how things are.

This one’s trunk has split in half, exposing wonderful textures within.  Lichen are starting to colonise the inert surface and, lower left, a snail moves across it.

Nikon D700 with 70mm-300mm VR Nikkor at 300mm; 800 ISO; Color Efex Pro 4.

    • Thanks, Andy, glad you like it – and eyes, yes. I don’t rate this particularly as an image but its gone down well – this has happened before, and its good to learn from others. Adrian
